Solar Garden Lights | Moon Globe Ball Light, Waterproof, 20cm & 30cm
Why we chose it
Garden lighting usually falls into two camps: functional spike lights that look like security equipment, or fairy lights that sag off a fence by September. This is neither. It's a simple glowing sphere, textured like a moon, that sits on grass, gravel, decking or a border and turns a dark corner of the garden into something worth looking at. Off during the day it reads as a pale stone ornament, which is the point — it doesn't look like a light until it is one.
The details
The shell is moulded PE with a softly cratered surface, so the light diffuses through it evenly instead of throwing a hotspot. It's rated IP64, meaning it's protected against dust and against water splashed from any direction — fine for rain and garden hoses, though not for sitting submerged in a pond.
You can choose the size and how it's powered. The solar versions charge through a panel and come on by themselves at dusk. The rechargeable versions are charged indoors and give you control over when they're lit, which suits a patio you use on specific evenings rather than a border you want lit every night.
Dimensions & specifications
Diameter: 20cm or 30cm. Power: solar or rechargeable, depending on the option you choose. Material: PE. Protection rating: IP64 — dust-tight and splash-proof from all directions. Voltage: 220V. Supplied as one lamp. Run time per charge and lumen output are not published by the manufacturer; we would rather say so than guess.
Style it in your home
These work best in odd numbers and mixed sizes — two 30cm and one 20cm grouped loosely at the base of a shrub looks considered, where a single sphere in the middle of a lawn looks lost. Tucked low into planting so the foliage half-hides them is the trick: you get the glow without seeing the object. They also sit well either side of a path or step, where they mark the edge without the runway effect of spike lights.

Care guide
Wipe the shell with a damp cloth when it dulls — a solar panel under a film of dust charges noticeably worse, so it's worth doing a few times a season. Bring them in or store them somewhere frost-free over deep winter to protect the battery, which is the part that ages first. Avoid solvent cleaners on the PE surface.
Frequently asked questions
Do they turn on by themselves?
The solar versions do — they charge during the day and light automatically at dusk. The rechargeable versions you charge and switch on yourself.
Can they be left out in the rain?
Yes. The IP64 rating covers dust and splashing water from any direction, so rain and a passing hose are fine. Don't submerge them or sit them in a pond.
How long do they stay lit?
The manufacturer doesn't publish a run time, so we won't invent one. As a general rule with solar lights, expect noticeably shorter run times in midwinter when there's less daylight to charge from.
Which size should I choose?
The 30cm has more presence on a lawn or in a wide border; the 20cm suits a patio, a doorstep or tucking between plants. Mixing sizes tends to look better than matching them.
Solar or rechargeable?
Solar if you want them lit every night with no thought. Rechargeable if the spot is shaded, or if you'd rather control when they're on.
Can I leave them out over winter?
They'll survive it, but the battery will last longer if you bring them in during the coldest months.
