Why we chose it

The details

Each 1.6m-tall lantern charges through solar panels set into the crown and switches itself on at dusk via a built-in light sensor. The LED is dimmable and gives up to around six hours of light on a full charge. The frame is weather-resistant with a classic black finish, and the whole thing installs by pushing the ground spike into soil — no wiring, no electrician.

Wipe the solar panel clear of dust and leaves now and then so it charges well. In very short winter days, run time will be shorter. Bring indoors if you'd prefer to store them over deep winter.
